Address and opening hours
The main train station Florence SMN is located in Piazza della Stazione – Florence. It is open from 06:00 to 24:00.
The railway station was opened in 1935. It has 19 tracks, of which the most central (5 to 16) are the longest. Florence‘s very first railway station dates back to 1848. This Stazione Leopolda provided a connection with Livorno. During the construction of this station it was considered necessary to build a second station. Construction of this Stazione Maria Antonia was started, which would eventually be finished a few months before the Leopolda one. This station was more or less located where today’s Santa Maria Novella is located. The Palazzina Reale next to the station, where the royal family used to stay when they were in Florence, was also built in 1935.
