Geschiedenis en beschrijving Palazzo Collicola

Palazzo Collicola Spoleto - Mirrir Hall in the Piano Nobile
Sala degli Specchi (“Room of mirrors”)

The Palazzo Collicola was built in 1717 for the noble family of Collicola by the architect Sebastiano Cipriani. It preserves its original structure, with a central body and two side-arms “embracing” the inner courtyard. Above the ground floor there are tree levels of arches.

After the last member of the family passed away the remaining furniture was sold at an auction. The building itself was acquired by the city of Spoleto.

At the moment it is being used as the seat of the Museo Carandente voor Moderne en Contemporaine Kunst.

The hallway on the piano nobile is decorated with 18th century tempera paintings. Since June 2010 the piano nobile is open for viewing again, including the original decorations.

The second floor is used for contemporary exhibitions.
